Introduction

Praise is to Allah, the One and the only.  The First Who has no beginning, and the Last Who has no end.  He has no companion and no equal.  Neither was he begotten and He has begotten none.  The Creator of the Heavens and Earth, all things we can see and all things we can not.

Our lives, hearts and souls are in his hands.  He Created Jinn and Humans to worship Him, without needing their worship.  Every thing will perish except Him.  His Mercy overcomes His Anger. He guided us through His Prophets and Messengers to Him and to the right way in life, but neither our good deeds benefit Him nor will our sins harm Him.  He Sees and Hears all things and takes every thing concerning us into account.  It is  He is whom there is no escape from except to Him.  He only is worthy of our obedience and worship.

Gratitude to Allah the Highest who bestowed the bounties of His Faith, Book, and Messenger upon us, with purification and guidance.  Prayer and peace upon Mohamed Ibn Abd Allah, the messenger of Allah, the last of His prophets and messengers, prayer and peace upon them all.   We testify that he delivered the message and fulfilled his trust.  For this we ask Allah the Highest to grant his the Wasela, the highest state in Paradise due to one person, we ask Allah the Highest to make him that man.

This is not an explanation of the Quran, for the Quran is Allah’s very word and no one can explain Allah’s very word.  This is an attempt to throw little light on the some of the meanings of the Aiahs, and extract any lessons or rules from it.  My policy has always been the following:

1-     State the Historical background to the Aiah.  I should point out that the Quran is not a History Book, however knowing the historical background of the Aiahs helps us understand them.

2-     I tried to throw light on the meaning of Aiahs of the Quran by other Aiahs, then the Hadith, the authenticated ones.  The references of each Hadith are written after them.  The translation of the meaning of the Hadith is my humble effort.  Also the translations of the meanings of the Quran are my humble efforts, after referring to other sources and translations.

3-     I referred to a number of well respected Tafseer books, Dictionaries, Hadith books, Index of Quran and Hadith, Serah Book (History of the life of the Prophet prayer and peace upon him)

I thank Allah the Highest for helping me all along and giving me support.  I ask the Almighty for forgiveness for any errors I might have made.

Ameen.

Here is a list of references:

Tafseer Books:

2-     Tafseer El- Tabary.

3-     Tafseer El-Naysabory

Israe 2-3

by   Ahmed Saafan At 31 January 2012 Hour 05:06 AM

Israe 2-3

2- AND WE HAVE GIVEN MUSA (MOSES) THE BOOK, AND WE MADE IT GUIDANCE FOR THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, COMMANDING THEM NOT TO TAKE AN ALLY AND SUPPORTED OTHER THAN ME.

3- THE OFFSPRING OF THOSE WE CARRIED WITH NOAH,  HE WAS A THANKFUL SLAVE INDEED.

Allah the Highest gave Moses, peace upon him, the Book, the Torah.  Every messenger was given revelations to guide his people.  The Torah was a book which contained laws governing all aspects of life, civil as well as criminal law.

The guidance is the right and quickest way to a destination.  Therefore, the guidance depends on the destination.  If one’s destination is Allah and His Pleasure, then following Allah’s guidance will lead to Allah’s pleasure.  The Torah is the guidance for the Children of Israel, until the time of the message of Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, which was the final guidance, sent down in the Quran and by Mohamed’s teachings which Allah gave to him.

Allah the Highest is commanding us not to take another for an ally or supporter, that is not to rely on any other being.  Allah the Highest is alive and does not die, and is the most able and the most powerful.  He does not change, he

Israa 1

by   Ahmed Saafan At 31 January 2012 Hour 05:05 AM

 Israa 1

14- PRAISE  IS TO HE WHO HAS TAKEN HIS SLAVE ON A NIGHT JOURNEY FROM THE SACRED MOSQUE TO AL-AQSA MOSQUE, WHICH WE BLESSED ITS SURROUNDINGS; TO SHOW HIM OF OUR AYAHS, INDEED, HE (ALLAH) IS HE WHO HEARS AND SEES ALL THINGS.

This Sorah is also called Bani Israel, meaning the Children of Israel.  Israel is Yacob (Jacob) Allah’s prophet.

Allah the Highest praises himself, being above all beings, having no faults or weaknesses, and having powers and abilities superior and beyond the powers of all else.

This journey was in body and soul, not just in soul.  Some say that it was in spirit only, because it would have been impossible for it to happen in body.  We should ask them:  Impossible for whom?  For Allah the Highest?  For this trip happened through Allah’s power, not the human power of the prophet Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him.  When Allah’s power is in action, all the boundaries and limits that we know are null and void.

In fact, the disbelievers questioning that this trip took place, is evidence that they thought it happened in body and soul, not just with the soul.

There is other physical evidence, the water which Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, drank from a caravan during that night, and they reported that water in that particular container, as being drunk when they camped at that particular site.  Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, told the disbelievers in Makah about all this, which the people in the caravan confirmed when the caravan arrived later.

The journey of Israa took place at night, from Makah to Jerusalem, which is 1238 Km away, and back to Makah the same night.  This is not humanly possible, however Allah the Highest is telling us that He took His prophet and messenger Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, on that journey, therefore, it was by Allah’s Power and Ability, not  human power.

Then Allah the Highest took Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, on a journey up through the heavens, accompanied by the Angel Gabriel, peace upon him.  He went up through the seven heavens with Gabriel, then alone to “Sedrat Al Montaha” into the presence of Allah the Highest, where Allah the Highest spoke to him and he spoke to Allah the Highest.  He was then commanded to pray fifty times daily, and all the

NAHL 125-128 (END OF SORAH)

by   Ahmed Saafan At 30 January 2012 Hour 05:24 AM

 NAHL 125-128 (END OF SORAH)

125- CALL TO YOUR LORD’S PATH THROUGH WISDOM AND GOOD ADVICE, AND ARGUE WITH THEM KINDLY, FOR YOUR LORD KNOWS BEST WHO HAS GONE ASTRAY FROM HIS PATH, AND HE KNOWS BEST WHO ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH.

126- AND IF YOU ARE TO PUNISH, THEN PUNISH WITH THE SAME PUNISHMENT YOU HAVE BEEN PUNISHED WITH, BUT IF YOU ARE TO BE PATIENT, THIS IS BETTER FOR THOSE WHO ARE PATIENT.

127- AND BE PATIENT AND PERSEVERE, AND THIS IS ONLY FOR ALLAH, AND DO NOT GRIEF FOR THEM, AND DO NOT BE UPSET BECAUSE OF THEIR PLOTTING.

128- FOR YOUR LORD IS WITH THOSE WHO ARE PIOUS, AND THOSE WHO WORSHIP AND DO WHAT IS GOOD.

End of the 14th Part of the Quran

In these Ayahs at the end of Sorah Al-Nahl, are Allah the Highest’s instructions regarding dealing with people, they are:-

1-    Whenever a believer is calling people to Allah’s way or arguing with them concerning Allah’s religion, this should be done kindly, wisely and with good advice.  Speaking to people aggressively tends to put them off, and stop them listening, while speaking gently and kindly and wisely, is more likely to encourage  people to listen and think.

We are not responsible for making people follow the right path, but are responsible for giving people the knowledge and clarifying this knowledge, in the best and most appropriate way.  Allah knows who will be guided and who is looking for guidance.

2-

Nahl 124

by   Ahmed Saafan At 30 January 2012 Hour 05:22 AM

Nahl 124

124- BUT THE SABBATH HAS BEEN MADE TO SHOW THOSE ABOUT WHICH THEY DIFFERED, AND INDEED YOUR LORD WILL RULE OUT BETWEEN THEM ON THE DAY OF RESURRECTION, CONCERNING THEIR DIFFERENCES.

Ibrahim, peace upon him, choose Friday to be the day when he rested and gave his time to worship.

The Children of Israel asked for a day of rest and worship, and their messenger Moses, peace upon him, suggested Friday, but they choose Saturday instead.  They reasoned that Saturday is the day after the creation of the Heavens and Earth, and that God rested on Saturday, and so will they (as if Allah the Highest gets tired and needs rest)

The Christians did not wish to follow the choice of the Jews, therefore they choose Sunday.

Allah the Highest choose Friday to be our day of rest and worship.  It is the same day as Ibrahim, peace upon him.  On the Jewish Sabbath (Saturday) they are not supposed to do any kind of work, and they imposed their own rigid rules in this respect.   The Muslims can go out and work on Friday, can cook and clean, although it is generally a day of rest, but i

Nahl 120-123

by   Ahmed Saafan At 29 January 2012 Hour 01:24 AM

 Nahl 120-123

120- INDEED, IBRAHIM WAS A LEADER AND A NATION, HUMBLING HIMSELF TO ALLAH, PURE IN FAITH, AND DID NOT WORSHIP ANY PARTNERS BESIDES ALLAH.

121- THANKFUL FOR (ALLAH’S BOUNTIES), ALLAH HAS CHOSEN HIM AND GUIDED HIM TO THE STRAIGHT PATH.

122- AND WE HAVE GIVEN HIM BOUNTY IN THIS LIFE, AND IN THE HEREAFTER, HE WILL BE AMONG THE RIGHTEOUS.

123- THEN WE INSPIRED YOU TO FOLLOW THE RELIGION OF IBRAHIM, PURE IN FAITH, AND HE WAS NOT AN IDOL WORSHIPPER.

Allah the Highest chose Ibrahim, peace upon him, to be His Khalil (meaning close and intimate person), Allah the Highest said: AND WHO’S RELIGION IS BETTER THAN HE WHO SUBMITS HIS FACE TO ALLAH, WHILE HE IS RIGHTEOUS AND DOING GOOD DEEDS, AND FOLLOWED THE RELIGION OF IBRAHIM, PURE IN FAITH, AND ALLAH  HAS TAKEN IBRAHIM FOR A KHALIL (CLOSE COMPANION)”.  (S: 4 A: 125)

Allah the Highest also made Ibrahim, peace upon him, Imam;  a leader to people and a good example to all those who follow and come after him, of the prophets and messengers.  Allah the Highest said: “AND AS IBRAHIM WAS TRIED BY HIS LORD WITH CERTAIN COMMANDS WHICH HE FULFILLED, HE (ALLAH) SAID: “I SHALL APPOINT YOU IMAM (LEADER) FOR MANKIND”.  HE SAID: “AND OF MY OFFSPRING TOO?”  HE (ALLAH) SAID: “MY PROMISE IS NOT FOR THE WRONG-DOERS”.  (S: 2 A: 124)

Indeed, before Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, received the revelations of the Quran, he used to worship Allah the Highest in the same way as Ibrahim, peace upon him, used to do.

Nahl 118-119

by   Ahmed Saafan At 29 January 2012 Hour 01:23 AM

 Nahl 118-119

118- AND FOR THOSE WHO ARE JEWS, WE HAVE FORBIDDEN WHAT WE HAVE NARRATED TO YOU BEFOREHAND, AND WE WERE NOT UNJUST TO THEM, BUT THEY WERE UNJUST TO THEMSELVES.

119- BUT AS FOR THOSE WHO DID EVIL OUT OF IGNORANCE, THEN REPENTED AFTERWARDS AND DID RIGHT, YOU LORD IS THEN MOST FORGIVING AND MOST MERCIFUL.

Allah the Highest has forbidden the same food forbidden to the Muslims to all nations.  The Jews were forbidden extra, which was a form of punishment for their sins.  They were stated in this Ayah: AS FOR THOSE WHO ARE JEWISH; WE PROHIBITED ALL CREATURES WITH NAILS (CLAWS), AND OF THE COWS AND SHEEP WE HAVE FORBIDDEN ITS FAT FOR THEM, EXCEPT WHAT IS ON ITS BACK, INSIDE THEM, OR WHAT IS MIXED WITH BONES, THIS WAS A RECOMPENSE FOR THEIR TRANSGRESSION, AND WE ARE TRUTHFUL INDEED”.  (S:6 A:146)

Disobeying Allah the Highest is usually done out of ignorance.  This does not mean not knowing, but being on the wrong path, and being misguided.  Those who know that they did wrong, then repent, and put what they did wrong, right; to those Allah the Highest is most forgiving and most merciful.

Repentance means acknowledging the wrong one did, and regretting having done that

Nahl 114-117

by   Ahmed Saafan At 26 January 2012 Hour 05:01 AM

 Nahl 114-117

114- THEREFORE, EAT OUT OF WHAT ALLAH HAS PROVIDED FOR YOU, HALAL AND PURE, AND BE THANKFUL FOR ALLAH’S BOUNTIES IF YOU TRULY WORSHIP HIM.

115- HE HAS FORBIDDEN YOU (EATING); THE DEAD, THE BLOOD, AND THE FLESH OF THE BIG, AS WELL AS WHAT HAD OTHER THAN ALLAH’S NAME MENTIONED ON, AS FOR WHOEVER IS COMPELLED (TO EAT) WITHOUT BEING UNJUST NOR TRANSGRESSING, ALLAH IS MOST FORGIVING AND MOST MERCIFUL.

116- AND DO NOT SAY TO WHAT YOUR TONGUES DESCRIBE LYING; THIS IS HALAL AND THIS IS HARAM, INVENTING LIES CONCERNING ALLAH, FOR THOSE WHO INVENT LIES CONCERNING ALLAH DO NOT SUCCEED.

117- LITTLE ENJOYMENT, THEN THEY WILL SUFFER PAINFUL PUNISHMENT.

In these Ayahs, Allah the Highest states that all things provided for us on Earth are Halal (permitted) to eat, except for what Allah the Highest named to be Haram (forbidden).  The general rule is allowance and prohibition is the exception.  Only Allah the Highest is allowed to prohibit, which is done through clear Ayahs and statements.

Nahl 112-113

by   Ahmed Saafan At 26 January 2012 Hour 04:59 AM

 Nahl 112-113

112- ALLAH HAS GIVEN THE PARABLE OF A VILLAGE WHICH LIVED IN PEACE AND SECURITY, HAVING ITS GOOD PROVISIONS COMING FROM EVERYWHERE, BUT IT DENIED ALLAH’S BOUNTIES UPON IT, THEN ALLAH LET IT TASTE BEING COVERED WITH FEAR AND HUNGER BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY DID.

113- AND THERE CAME TO THEM A MESSENGER FROM AMONGST THEM, BUT THEY REJECTED HIM, CONSIDERING HIM LIAR, THEN THEY WERE TAKEN BY THE PUNISHMENT WHILE THEY WERE TRANSGRESSORS.

Whenever Allah the Highest addresses people or deals with them, He provides them with what they need and want, all the kinds of provisions for this life.  Also He provides them with guidance in the form of prophets and messengers.  This guidance also contains warnings for them, if they do not believe and following the guidance.

Allah the Highest lets those who believe and uphold justice and do good on Earth prevail, and rewards them with great provisions.  Allah the Highest said: “AND IF THEY UPHELD THE TORAH AND THE ENGEEL AND WHAT WAS SENT DOWN TO YOU FROM YOUR LORD, THEY WOULD HAVE EATEN FROM WHAT IS OVER THEM AND WHAT IS UNDER THEIR FEET, SOME OF THEM BELIEVE, BUT MANY OF THEM DO EVIL THINGS”.  (S:5  A:66)

And said: “ALLAH PROMISED THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND DO GOOD DEEDS, THAT HE WILL PUT THEM IN CHARGE OF THE EARTH, AS HE PUT THOSE BEFORE THEM IN CHARGE, AND WILL LET THE RELIGION HE IS SATISFIED WI

Nahl 106-111

by   Ahmed Saafan At 26 January 2012 Hour 04:58 AM

 Nahl 106-111

106- THOSE WHO DISBELIEVED AFTER THEN HAVE BELIEVED, EXCEPT FOR THOSE FORCED WHILE THEIR HEARTS ARE AT PEACE WITH BELIEF, BUT THOSE WHOSE HEARTS ARE OPEN TO DISBELIEVE, THEY WILL HAVE ALLAH’S ANGERS UPON THEM, AND THEY WILL SUFFER A GREAT PUNISHMENT.

107- THIS IS BECAUSE THEY LOVED THE LOWER LIFE MORE THAN THE HEREAFTER, AND INDEED ALLAH DOES NOT GUIDE THE DISBELIEVING PEOPLE.

108- THEY ARE THOSE WHOM ALLAH HAS SEALED THEIR HEARTS, HEARING AND VISION, AND THEY ARE THE UNAWARE.

109- NO DOUBT  THAT THEY WILL BE THE LOSERS IN THE HEREAFTER.

110- BUT THEN YOUR LORD IS MOST FORGIVING AND MOST COMPASSIONATE TO THOSE WHO MIGRATED AFTER THEY WERE TEMPTED, AND THEN THEY FOUGHT IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH, AND WERE PATIENT AND PERSEVERED.

111- ON THE DAY WHEN EVERY SOUL WILL COME ARGUING FOR ITSELF, AND THEN EVERY SOUL WILL BE RECOMPENSED IN FULL FOR WHAT IT DID, AND THEY ARE NEVER TREATED UNJUSTLY.

Amar Bin Yasser was the son of Yasser and Somayah, and they three of them were believers from the beginning of Islam, when the Muslims were weak and before the migration of the Muslims to Medina.  Yasser’s family was a weak and poor family, and did not belong to a strong tribe in Makah which could protect them.  They were taken by the disbelievers and tortured in the desert, deprived of food and water and left in the heat of the desert.  Amar saw his father being  tortured  to death, and his mother being murdered by having her limbs pulled out of her body.

Under this torture, Amar said what the disbelievers wanted him to say, denouncing Islam, and saying that Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, was lying.  When he was let go, he went to see Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, and told him what had happened, the prophet, prayer and peace upon him, said: “How do you find your heart?”  He said: “In peace with belief”.  The prophet, prayer and peace up
